War

The card game War for two players on two phones. Start a game, send the link, and play live.

Open projectView source

The simplest card game there is, played between two phones. One player starts a game and shares the link (or the six-letter code); when the other opens it, the deck is dealt and you both turn over cards. The higher card takes both, and a tie means war: three cards face down, one face up, winner takes the lot. Whoever ends up with the whole deck wins.

  • Both players tap Flip each round, or switch on auto-flip to let the game run.
  • Lock your phone or lose your connection and the game waits; open it again and you’re back in your seat.
  • The cards come from the same SVG card library as Solitaire.

Each game is a Cloudflare Durable Object: a small server instance with its own storage that both phones talk to over a WebSocket. It shuffles and deals, decides every round, and never tells either phone what’s in the other’s pile. It runs on Cloudflare’s free plan, and an idle game costs nothing while the players think.
