Flags of the world

A flag quiz on flash cards. A flag fills the screen; tap it to see whose it is, with facts, languages and earlier flags.

A flag fills the screen, upright or turned sideways on a tall phone (a marker shows which way is up). Guess, tap to check, and say whether you knew it. The back of the card has the country’s capital, population, area, GDP and languages, what its flag means, a few fun facts and the flags it flew before.

  • Four difficulties, from the 40 best-known countries to tiny island states, ranked by population, GDP and size.
  • Pick a region, a round of 10, 20 or every flag, and whether to include territories such as Greenland.
  • Flags you miss come back later in the round, and next time the ones you know least come first.
  • “See all the flags” lists every flag with its facts.

It is built on two libraries in this site’s repo: libs/flags, 250 SVG flags in their real proportions with facts for all 197 countries, and libs/flashcards, a general flash card deck and card view meant for more quizzes later.
